Designer - Thure Öberg
Thure Öberg, (Born in 1872 in Stockholm, d. 1935, Helsinki) worked in Arabia in the years 1896-1935 and factory's first ceramic artist. He had a significant role in the Arabian handpainting department and as a precursor in the field.
Öberg's work shows strong knowledge in the craft traditions and that eras typical idiom's and picture themes. His earliest works are relief surfaced, organic themes and mostly baced upon Jugends ideas of ideal objects. Öberg, was awarded a gold medal for the painted decoration at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. In porcelain painting more traditional subjects are flower and plant themes. Öberg made multi-colored enamel accessories, in cobalt blue under glaze ornaments and decorated with majolica techinique.
Öberg was a talented painter, whichs shows the artist's careful and detailed implementation of the watercolor paintings. Witch can be seen in the Arabian price lists, brochures and ornaments.
