Designer - Pekka Paikkari
PEKKA PAIKKARI (born 1960 in Somero) graduated from Kuopio, Arts and Crafts Academy. He has worked as a product designer and an artist since 1983 at Arabia. He emphasizes as an industrial designer rational solutions and as an artist strong intuition. His production in Arabia includes several unique sculptures and installations of which inspirations come from material.
They have often been combined of many same kinds of pieces' modules and further worked cast objects. As material he diversely uses different masses and the colours of the works are born when the material is being fired. Tableware designed for industrial production, such as Domino together with Kati Tuominen-Niittylä, have been designed to be modern; combined shapes of cube and ball are repeated. T piece caster Toi is stackable, bowl Obonera's shapes include source of inspiration from cardboard plates used in packing of fruits. Paikkari is a member of Arabia Art Department Association.
