Designer - Olin-Grönqvist Gunvor
GUNVOR OLIN-GRÖNQVIST (born 1928 in Espoo, died 2005 in Helsinki) studied porcelain painting at current Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in1948-1951 and worked his whole career 1951-1992 at Arabia Department of Industrial Art and Art Department and as a scholar.
During working Olin-Grönqvist designed in the Department of Industrial Art several models and decorations and also decorations for industrial mass production, i.a. Valpuri, Fructus, Kosmos, Soraya and Nooakin arkki. Characteristic decoration methods for her were raw painting, colour glazes and carving.
Decorations were stylished tale theme animal, fruit and plant subjects. Production was mainly made of porcelain, faience and earthenware. Later when working in Art Department, in her works were emphasized naturally handled garden delicacies such as apples and onions as well as henhouses with demanding foxes.
Arabia's first graceful and round shaped tea dish set made of white earthenware mass was Tea for Two designed by Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist.
