Designer - Howard Smith
Howard Smith (b. 1928 in New Jersey, USA) is a multi-media artist. He has studied art painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. The first time Howard Smith worked in Finland was 1962 - 1976, he also worked as an visiting artist in Arabia 1984, after he continuned to work in industrial production.
Examples of his work's are simplified Parvi-bird figures, geometric patterns playing in sets such as Domino-tableware, Combo-decoration, The Drummer collection of saucers, plates and unique murals. Howard Smith has managed to combine the form of pottery, colors and patterns in simplified to the form of ceramic material. His works reflect semantic thinking, African and Japanese image and idiom.
