Designer - Heljä Liukko-Sundström

After finishing studies at the Institute of Industrial Arts in 1962 HELJÄ LIUKKO (born 1938 in Vehmaa) started working for Arabia in the Department of Industrial Arts and moved to Art Department in 1967. Heljä Liukko-Sundström's most essential and known production in Arabia stands for grafic illustrated ceramic tiles and decoration collection.

Part of her wide and diverse design production are the 1970's rag dolls and human body sculptures, 1980's tale book illustrations and several monumental works and a house project Villa Sannari in a residential district in Helsinki. She has studied and profited from ceramics' different possibilities and exceeded boundaries of different genres of art with her works.

For industrial production was complete Tuuli dish set in 1983 in which inspiration for design has come out of a wind whirled landscape. She was granted professor title in 1994. She is a member of current Association of Art Department and has held several solo and co-exhibitions during her career.
