Designer - Aino Anttila
AINO ANTTILA (born 1923 Helsinki) started working for Arabia in 1943 as a ornamental painter. She studied at current Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in 1954-1957 in Ceramics Department completing her know-how as a ceramist. In 1963-1969 she worked as an assistant for Rut Bryk and after that in Arabia Art Department until year 1974.
She diversely knew mass, stoves and firing in the factory as well as other essential techniques used in the production. In her own works implemented for Art Department she specialized to use porcelain and earthenware reductive firing at high temperatures as they got red, grey and green shades on the copper glazings. Aino Anttila's casted and thrown items are plain, simple bowls, vases and basins.
