Designer - Krista Riskina
Kristiina Riska (b. 1960 in Helsinki) studied in 1979 - 1984 at the University of Art and ceramic works department. In Arabia, she started as a trainee in 1984 and she is still working at the factory. Kristiina Riska's unique production illustrated the multidimensional nature of Finnish ceramics, despite the seeming simplicity. In her unique work's combine changing material surfaces, fragility, light and shadow's play and typical sublimity to art.
For mass production Kristiina Riska has designed ex. Loru-grid that is shaped like a cradle, perforatiatedly, decorated, doudble-walled Basket vase and together with Kati Tuominen-Niittylä whole KoKo-dishware series set in 2005. The idea for KoKo has been a wide range of colors and many uses of the dishware items: They have been named only with size like clothes from XS to XL. Dishware user can decide how many and where he/she uses them. Kristiina Riska is a member in the Arabia Art Department.
